Forest Light Encounters
An on-going project which involves me spending lots of time in two particular woods, one in South Yorkshire where I was born (Wolley Edge) and another in West (Kebroyd Wood) Yorkshire near my home in Sowerby. I’m particularly interested in the complex shapes and textures of the woodland and how light (or lack of light) interacts with this environment. Its an attempt by me to make something far more personal than the usual landscape photography i’ve taken in the past. Annoyingly, as a true lover of the woodlands, I’ve always struggled photographing trees and forests in general, so see this project as an enjoyable challenge. Its also an exploration towards a more abstract photography, often using multiple exposures and an attempt by me to find something fresh in my photography, whilst exploring deeper into the shapes and intricacies of the countryside around me.
