Avebury – Stone Study
Here are some of the standing stones that make up the stone circles in the village of Avebury, Wiltshire, England. Very roughly they were put around 4-5000 years ago, and at various stages of the history of the circles people have attempted to knock them down…and put them back up again, all dependent on cultural practices and/or religious beliefs. Also took a walk to Silbury Hill and the nearby Barrow. Stunning!
These photographs were taken late in the evening, to the sound of a man looking like Gandalf, performing a ritual close by….and I got really lucky with the sky!
